This year, I joined the fan art team of MaybelArts.com – we are unaffiliated fans with a passion for helping animals! We create art and merchandise, and donate the profits to animal sanctuaries like Goats of Anarchy!
Sketched in blue pencil, drawn in black colored pencil, with digital touchups and coloring.
Scout here was the first drawing I did for this series. I wasn’t completely sure what I’d do with this series. It has sold as downloadable art and coloring pages, as well as a baseball shirt line with each family member! Scout is a silly little girl – she was too small to fight her way during mealtime, so she ended up having some help with bottle feeding. She’s incredibly close to her Mom though, and is quite daring! She was often one of the first to try leaping to high spots, and could be seen at night moving furniture around, making circles in the bedding.
Truffle was the second in this family series. She’s usually seen near her family, but sometimes looking like she’s pondering deep thoughts. The sanctuary is located in New Jersey, so I included their state flower, the violet!
Benny was the next one to be drawn! I was inspired to do this pose one day when their favorite caretaker (Auntie L) visited them one day. As he stood up (most likely begging for a treat or something), she balanced his upper half to steady him and did some gentle little dance moves. I honestly think he really enjoyed it – and so I imagined he continued to brag about his dancing lesson, and kept up the hobby. 😉
Ralphie was the last of the Baybels I drew. I was inspired to draw this because he could frequently be seen climbing the wall, or the roof of the well house that was next to it. He LOVED being up high, but I think it was because he was so curious and loved to see everything around him. Here, I imagined him spotting birds flying by and wondering where they were going and what they had seen?
Mama Maybel is the mother of Scout, Truffle, Ralphie, and Benny (aka “the Baybels”). Before arriving at the sanctuary, she had been bred many times and usually had several kids at a time, but this was the very first time she was allowed to keep them. She is an amazing mother, and very close to her Baybels, as they are to her and each other. Thanks to the amazing sanctuary of Goats of Anarchy, they will get to spend the rest of their lives together. Maybel has to be one very happy Mama!
You can find unofficial merchandise that helps the sanctuary (digital downloads, and possibly other sold out items) here.
